Residential Care
Facility Services
Residential care facility services are living arrangements for adults which
provide food shelter, personal care, and social activities. Residential services
should not be confused with nursing home services. Persons who require more than
occasional basic nursing services are not eligible to reside in an RCF. Often
time residential service are short term (6-12 months) and offer services to help
an individual return to living in the local community. Supports are individual
tailored to meet individual identified expectations as well as utilize input
from an interdisciplinary team of concerned family, friends and professionals.
Insight Human Services of Henry County offers individual living units and round the clock supervision
and support to 15 individuals in a community focused atmosphere.
MR Waiver Services
Supported Community Living: These are interventions that encourage individual
engagement and learning about daily living functions. This service is developed
around an individual’s unique abilities. People are encouraged to participate,
at their own comfort level, with personal encouragement to progress towards
independence. Supports may include personal care; household maintenance
(cleaning, laundry, etc); encouragement and training in managing personal
finances; maintenance and improvement of physical and emotional health and well
being; accessing and belonging to local community organization, activities, and
services. We encourage involvement in our local communities. These interventions
are provided to persons diagnosed with mental retardation. These services are
provided both in our residential care setting as well as in individual or group
living arrangement in our local communities.
Habilitative Services
Home Based Habilitation: These are interventions that are individually designed
to assist person with mental illness in the following areas of daily living:
Adaptive skill development, daily living activities, community inclusion,
transportation, adult educational opportunities, social and leisure skill
development, and personal care.
BI Waiver Services
Supported Community Living: These are interventions that encourage individual

independence. Supports may include personal care; household maintenance
(cleaning, laundry, etc); encouragement and training in managing personal

are provided to persons diagnosed with mental retardation. These services are
provided both in our residential care setting as well as in individual or group
living arrangement in our local communities. Eligible recipients must have a
qualified brain injury as determined by the Iowa Foundation for Medical Care.
Representative Payee Services
Staff assist individuals in managing personal finances as well as developing
skills to progress to managing their own finances.
Adult Day Care Services
Services designed to help persons with disabilities remain in their own home.
These services provide supports weekdays to give eligible individuals an
environment loaded with activities and entertainment. Supervision is provided,
as well as a dietetically balanced meal, along with healthy snacks throughout
the day. This program is especially designed for elderly individuals to allow
caregivers relief to live their lives while knowing their loved ones are in a
safe, enjoyable environment. Respite Services
Respite care services are services provided to the consumer that give
temporary relief to the usual caregivers and provide all the necessary care that
the usual caregiver would provide during that time period. The purpose of
respite care is to enable the consumer to remain in the consumer’s current
living situation. Respite care is not to be provided to persons during the hours
in which the usual caregiver is employed, except when the provider is a camp.
Chore Services
Chore services include the following services:

Window and door maintenance, such as hanging screen windows and
doors, replacing windowpanes, and washing windows. |

Minor repairs to walls, floors, stairs, railings, and handles. |

Heavy cleaning which includes cleaning attics or basements to remove
fire hazards, moving heavy furniture, extensive wall washing, floor care
or painting, and trash removal. |

Yard work, such as mowing lawns, raking leaves, and shoveling walks. |
About Our Staff
This is the strongest asset of our service and support system. The 14
individuals employed by Insight Human Services are dedicated, compassionate individuals who enjoy
working with people. They receive ongoing training on a variety of topics
including mental illness, safety, engagement, skill development, and many other
topics and interest areas. |
