Notice To Bidders
The Henry County Board of Supervisors now
have the Request for Proposals available for Henry County Rural Residential
Garbage and Recycle Collection Services. They may be picked put at the Henry
County Auditor’s Office located in the Henry County Courthouse on the middle
floor in the northwest corner Monday thru Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Sealed bids
must be submitted by 10:00 am January 26, 2012 and will be opened by the Board
of Supervisors at their meeting at that time. Bids can be left at the Henry
County Auditor’s Office or mailed there at 100 E Washington St., Mt Pleasant, IA
52641.

Proposed Change to Henry County Entrance Policy
Presently
the Henry County Secondary Road Department maintains all entrances adjacent to
Henry County Roads. It is required that all new entrances be constructed at the
expense of the landowner and that culverts for new entrances shall be made of
concrete pipe or corrugated metal pipe. Henry County is considering the
allowance of dual wall polyethylene pipe for culverts in new entrances. The
county engineer has proposed the following options to be considered as Henry
County Entrance Policy:
1. Retain the current Entrance Policy.
2.
Allow the use of plastic dual-wall culverts. Installation & maintenance of
driveways to remain per existing county policy. Henry County would not stock
plastic culverts.
3. Allow the use of plastic dual-wall culverts.
Installation & maintenance of driveways to remain per existing county policy
except; landowner will be responsible for cost of any future plastic dual-wall
driveway culverts.
4. Landowners to be responsible for driveway entrances
adjacent to property. County to allow the landowners to install and maintain all
driveways within county ROW. All work to install new driveways to be completed
to county specifications by permit. County would no longer stock or deliver
entrance culverts. County responsibility would be similar to State DOT –
maintenance for county would end at the entrance shoulder. Projected average
saving to county of $65,000 per year.

Today the Director of Revenue’s order to apply
assessment limitation percentages to the 2011 assessments will be sent by
regular mail to the county auditors.
Please get the information about
the rollback from the Department of Revenue’s website at
http://www.iowa.gov/tax/locgov/propequalroll.html . The order is there as
“2011 Assessment Limitations (Rollbacks)” and the press release is there as
“2011 Rollback Press Release.”

Henry County Board of Adjustment meets the second Tuesday of every month if
there is business to transact. The meeting is held in the Board of Supervisors
office in the Courthouse. The meeting is called to order at 4:30 P.M.
